Annaprashana is important cultural tradition followed in Indian and other South Asian communities. It is also known as Mukhebhaat in West Bengal, coṟuṇu in Kerala, and Bhaat khoolai in Himachal Pradesh.
Ceremony usually takes place when the baby is between 6 to 9 months, it involves preparing Kheer or Payas (rice pudding made of milk, sugar, dry-fruits and rice).
Offering Prayers and Kheer to God, baby is fed a few spoon of kheer and other food depending on culture.
The parents, relatives and family members bless the baby with strong digestive power, a prosperous, protected, healthy and successful life.
The Baby usually wear traditional outfits for the occasion.
